Colonoscopy at 50 yrs old. 5mm polyp removed. labs show non cancerous. recommend follow up in 5 yrs. what is the chance of developing colon cancer within those 5 yrs?

Almost no chance.: Assuming that your colonoscopist was able to visualize all of the lining of the colon and was able to remove any polyps that were there, your chance of developing colon cancer in the intervening five years is almost 0. Be sure to do your next procedure at the time recommended, however, and report to your doctor if you have any new symptoms. Good health!
