Doctor can evaluate: Rectum and anus blood can be due to irritation, infection, or worse. Serious problems are possible, depending on one's medical history, family history, etc... Irritation can occur from diarrhea, constipation, hemorrhoids, friction, allergies, medication effects, etc... Heavy bleeding from blood vessels can be fatal. A person with bleeding more than just spots of blood should be seen in the ER.
