Many "depends ons": If you mean that you've had a severe mental illness that is still part of your life and you are only now thinking about a career path, it might be too long a hard road. But work in the wide field of medicine may still be possible. Try to talk with career counselors at a college near you. Be honest with them about your background and your skills and interests.
