How can you differentiate mucus from postnasal drip vs mucus from lungs when clearing throat? i don't have chronic cough, buy when i do cough to dislodge mucus in throat, it is nonproductive and sounds dry. i can also feel mucus draining down throat.

Mucus: Mucus from bronchial tubes and lungs are coughed up. The cough is productive. Postnasal dripping of mucus does drain into the throat from the back of the nose.
