Hi there, ive had an iud (mirena) for 5 years now. my husband and i probably want to get pregnant in 1 or 2 years. do i need to renew it? if yes, can a gp do this or must i see a gynaecologist? thank you!

Renew ?: Any GP who offers to do pelvic exams likely have the training & experience to remove this. It can take up to a year for fertility to return after removal of an IUD so if this is your plan I would not put another in. Use another form of BC if you need to plan things after removal.
