Blepharitis: Blepharitis refers to swelling or inflammation of (usually) the upper eyelid and is best treated with warm compresses. A clean towel soaked in warm water, held against the eye for 10 or 15 minutes several times a day usually works. It should be sloppy wet but not so hot that it could burn. If the eye itself is very red or draining pus, there is severe pain, or swelling persists then see a doctor
