A member asked:

Why am i getting fever blisters? ive only had one in my lifetime and thats when i was 10, so it cant be because of the hsv virus.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Why say it can't be?: Fever blisters of HSV-1 are recurrences, and happen in places at or near the original infection. An original infection tends to happen in childhood, and causes sores on the lips and gums, plus sometimes the nostrils and facial areas near the nose and mouth. The recurrences will happen on SOME of those original areas, usually on the lips, and sometimes a few other places, such as the nostrils.
