I'm finding that it also has a negative effect on my work and family?

Meds + therapy: The best treatment of depression is usually anti-depressant medication, psychotherapy (talk therapy), or a combination of the two. A class of medications called SSRI's (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) is usually the first choice. Any primary care physician may be able to prescribe them for someone with depression, as well as recommend psychotherapy options.
