Internal Medicine 61 years experience
Sciatica: The sciatic nerve is most likely impinged upon by a bulging or ruptured intervertebral disc in your lower spine. Symptoms may resolve in days or weeks. Surgery may be needed if symptoms persist, keep you awake or weakness in the leg develops. I recommend consulting a neurosurgeon for diagnosis and advice. An MRI will be needed to fully evaluate the problem and advise you about treatment options.
