Must work with Dr.: A person with left shoulder or left arm pain without a good reason or explanation should go to her doctor or the ER to be checked for a heart attack. If not heart related, then one's doctors will be looking for other causes. The arm has bones, muscles, joints, nerves, and skin... all can have painful disorders of one kind or another. There is the spine and its nerves. Pinched nerves can mean pain.

Arm signals: The theory behind the left arm/heart connection goes back to very early in life. The L.arm/heart muscles/blood vessels are derived from the same early tissue segment as the fetus develops. The wiring is thought to have a normally quiet pathway where the heart can send that early warning signal if something bad is emerging. It can be something else, but with high cholesterol/BP don't ignore it.
