Nerve: Pain simultaneously in the front of the chest and the shoulder blade may be due to a nerve impingement in the lower neck or upper back vertebra by a bulging disc or bone spur pressing on a nerve root. Sometimes such pain is the forerunner of shingles in which case a rash erupts after several days. Your MD can evaluate you and refer you for MRI or to a neurologist depending upon his/her assessment.
