I have to take amoxicillin 875mg for 10 days for a sinus infection. i also take the birth control pill, ashlyna. will my birth control still be effective during the course of treatment, or do i need to use a back up method during & after treatment?

Should not interact: The current thinking is that except for rifampin, other commonly-used antibiotics do not alter the effectiveness of combination birth control pills such as Ashlyna. This is likely presuming a person is not sick with vomiting or diarrhea, or some other condition that decreases the absorption of a swallowed pill.
