Patience: An illness must run its course. Fever is part of the bodies natural effort to promote healing as it increases heart rate/breathing to supply the area with healing factors. High fever that has not started down within 72 hrs deserves a re-visit.

Depends on details: Plenty of sick children cough or vomiting. However, a parent or other caretaker gets to decide if the child might be coughing due to huge tonsil swelling... as in having some trouble swallowing saliva or mucus, or having some trouble talking, or a muffled voice. The parent can decide if the vomiting is due to trouble swallowing. If unsure, the child can get an in-person exam again to be safe.
