A member asked:

My grandson had been off his food for a couple of days and then had a sore throat, vomited and had a fever. doctor did swab and said it is strep throat. fever gone. sore throat gone. but nausea and no apatite and a little cough clearing his throat?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

A mild appetite loss is common during the tail end of the illness while the body relies on fat stores to maintain a level of energy. Often, getting the kid to consume some simple "treat" foods that are carbohydrate based (breads/rice/pasta) can push them out of this state and get the appetite back.
