Many possibilities: That's the left upper abdomen and includes the stomach, spleen, pancreas, ribs, muscles, lung, etc... A patient who thinks pains are related to stomach acid can actually try taking a good-sized dose of Maalox or Mylanta to see what happens. If the pains or sensations go away each time, that suggests the pains are due to acidity. A doctor should evaluate to see what may be going on inside the body.
