A member asked:

Hello, i've been fighting a cold since last monday, and taking antihistamines and sinus relief. can i take a flu shot ? or need to wait for no symptoms? flu shot

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No worries: Mild illnesses need not cause one to postpone a flu shot. The annual flu shot contains protection against Flu A and Flu B. It is ok for a person with cold symptoms or other minor problems to get a flu shot, if she does not have other major medical reasons for not getting the shot. Antiviral medication does not affect a flu shot injection. The shot has no live viruses in it, but nasal vaccine does.
