Referred Pain: Once the lesion resolves the pain should disappear. If it doesn't, see your dentist for an evaluation.

Canker sore: Lesion, exposed nerve endings. Same nerve that sends signals o brain of a damaged soft tissue area also signals brain when there is a deep cavity, so brain is telling you something's wrong. Pain should disappear as the canker sore heals. If not, see your Dentist.
