Do all anti seizure medications work by slowing brainwaves? i'm in search of a new one because keppra causes my thinking to be too slow? are there any that dont impair cognition? waiting to see neurologist. wanted some input on which to try next

Wrong idea: NO antiseizure med works by affecting brainwaves. Brainwaves (i.e. EEG) are just a very crude noninvasive way to watch brain activity. They're just a test. Seizure meds don't treat a test, they treat the brain itself. They work at the cellular and molecular level. The only way to know what seizure meds don't impair cognition IN YOU is to try them and see.
