A member asked:

Could a 13 year old see the doctor without a parent?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends : In some practices (mine included) parents can authorize their teens to see the doctor alone during part or all of the visit. This promotes confidential dialogue and decision making by the kid. I request that the kids tell the parents what we discussed to whatever level they wish. The kids in some states can seek out treatment for std's or related issues @ some free clinics.
