Doctor can recheck: Regardless of whether or not a child has tonsillitis, if he has severe headaches and high fever, he can be rechecked by his doctor or the ER. Sometimes a child has a bad case of a common illness. Sometimes it is a bad illness such as bacterial meningitis. The ER may do some blood tests or other tests to see if something bad is happening. Viruses can also be the cause, not just bacteria.
