Specializes in Pediatric Urology

Grow from nidus/seed: Which can be tiny stone formed in & kidney, mucus in bladder if enlarged with bowel or foreign body e.g. Indwelling catheter. Plus incomplete bladder emptying & urinary calcium, phosphate, uric acid etc come out of solution, attach to seed & stone enlarges. Treated by cystoscopic laser or lithoclast (like mini jack-hammer) which breaks up stone. Occasionally open surgical removal if very large.
