My father is 91 and had a brain bleed 18 months ago, now he can't swallow.the doctors want to give him palliative care.are there any choices.is that painful.he has limited cognitive ability?

Palliation: Sorry for your father. From your comments he had a stroke and will not recover. Palliative care is also called Comfort care or Hospice. It is to help someone (but not hasten death) who is expected to die within six months let nature take it course. It does not hurt, it is to prevent pain, not just pain medications are used but religious and daily care such as reading to them
