A member asked:

How long can i breastfeed my baby when living with hiv?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Depends: There are various recommendations based on your treatment state & availability of purified water for formula. Since you can pass HIV to baby if your viral load is not undetectable, many recommend only formula feeding if formula/safe water is available. If your load is down and or safe water is not available you feed as you must. Duration is less important than your HIV status.
