A uk a gp reply to econsultation asked on phone about spots on face as i thought it may be acne or discoid lupus so he advised i try benzole peroxide 5% cream from chemist without face to face appointment to confirm this.correct?very itchy face now

Unwise: A proper diagnosis is very important and requires an examination by your physician or dermatologist. I recommend discontinuing the cream in view of the itching reaction. Benjoyl peroxide is used for acne, and if you don't have acne you shouldn't apply it to your face. Skin reactions to this product can definitely occur.
