Some basics: Your goal should be to pass more frequent & softer stools. That may require you do scheduled emptying 2-3X/d and use something like Miralax ( a water grabbing agent) to keep things soft. The longer the poop stays in your body the dryer,bulkier & harder it will get, so your efforts to go more often are often the key to healing.
