A member asked:

Is 2000 mg of augmentim antibiotics a day excessive for treating fluid in the inner ear?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Maybe. Maybe not.: It depends on the details of a person's individual case. Augmentin 1000mg twice a day (presumably the 1000mg extended release form) is a big dose, but some types of infections need big doses. The question is, "What infection is being treated?" A patient can ask her doctor where the infection is and what the infection is. Maybe the doctor feels the "fluid" is infected fluid. Details matter.
