Could you please tell me what an "acute transformation" is and whether it is a rare condition? i understand that some hematological conditions can have an acute transformation.

Probably refers to..: When a person's leukemia changes from a somewhat stable, chronic phase of the blood cancer, into a rapidly progressive phase in which the cancerous blood cells have changed and reproduce much more rapidly, thus becoming higher and higher in number... eventually leading to the patient's demise. A continuing high WCC can be indicative of an infection. But can it also be caused by an underlying hematological disorder?
Is Immune Thrombocytopenia (1) a hematological malignancy itself and (2) has it been reasonably established that this condition is sometimes caused by a hematological malignancy? Any answer to either of these questions would be much appreciated.
I have a family history of hematological malignancy. I understand that a CBC may provide possible evidence of a HM which requires further investigation. But can a CBC miss early signs of a potential HM because it simply cannot test for everything?
