A member asked:

Hi, is it ok to drink alcohol if you have lung cancer?

Maybe just a little: A little is usually ok. That said, alcohol is toxic to living tissues (we humans are a complex glob of living tissues) so avoid "moderate drinking." Moderate drinking is too much alcohol. Also, we get enough man-made toxins into our bodies nowadays that we don't need to drink additional voluntary toxins. It's much safer to drink water or green tea, neither of which contain calories nor alcohol.

! will add: a "minority" opinion. We have have changed medical opinions re: alcohol and we have tried to modify "destructive" behavior related to alcohol, but we should as Physicians still recognize the value of alcohol in the "handling" of essentially mortal diagnoses! Why should Cannabis be accepted and not alcohol? I would, MY OPINION ONLY encourage moderate alcohol consumption is it improves appetite!

No: Alcohol is a poison that never did anybody any good, ever, so stay away from it.
