A member asked:

How concerned should i be about a swollen gland in my armpit? periodically throbbing pain sensation and no infections present.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Some possibilities: Pain in the armpit can be from the skin, the muscles, the lymph nodes, the ribs, etc... The best person to see first is the primary care doctor, who can then refer to a specialist if he is not able to diagnose and solve the problem. A lump can be a cyst, a lymph node, an infected oil gland in the skin, a skin abscess, etc... (so a doctor should examine it in-person).
