ER for anaphylaxis: Going to the hospital ER is for emergencies. An anaphylactic allergic reaction such as one in which there is tongue or throat swelling, excessive face or lip swelling, trouble swallowing, trouble talking, difficulty breathing, wheezing or other asthma-type symptoms, fainting or passing out, etc... Mild, non-anaphylactic reactions like mere hives are usually taken care of at one's doctor's office.
