A member asked:

My 15 yr old daughter started a part time job and suddenly stopped getting regular period. can these two be connected? how can she minimize this issue?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Irregular menses in : teenage girls is not uncommon but is often caused by stress or weight change and sometimes a hormonal problem such as thyroid condition. Teenagers should be getting 8-9 hours of sleep daily, and many teens get far less than that. Also, with working a job, her diet may be compromised as well. Doing well in school should be a teen's primary responsibility, so you may need to reconsider work.
