Time to see doctor: One's primary care doctor can evaluate to see what might be the cause. If it is not merely a coincidence that the cough began after the collision, then something must have changed with the collision... such as accidentally breathing in some little object; or some damage to the ribs, ribs lining, lungs lining, trachea, bronchi, etc... Depending on the exam, a chest x-ray might be needed.
