Bad breath: Problems with bad breath (halitosis) can be related to oral hygiene (i.e., caries, periodontal disease, insufficient saliva) or due to medical problems like sinusitis, gastric reflux, diabetes etc. Smoking is a major cause. Find out cause & correct it. Recommend starting with a dental evaluation. If that doesn’t turn up the cause – then recommend evaluation by your Dr.

Bad breath: Most common cause is gum disease (infection/pockets/food impaction, etc). Can also be from abscessed teeth, infection of sinuses, tonsils, adenoids, coating on tongue, systemic diseases such as diabetes/Gerd/food metabolism disturbance, or medication/OTC/supplement side effects. Start with your Dentist. Referral to Periodontist and/or ENT or Gastroenterologist may be in order.
