A member asked:

Im having an mra done but without contrast due to that i might have an allergic reaction from it, will it still show any aneurysm that might be in my brain or will not having the contrast not be good in showing this ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Aneurysm: The contrast in this case is necessary to visualize the actual aneurysm. I am sure your radiologist will take measures to avoid the allergic reaction. Also the risk of an allergic reaction is way lower than the risk of having a undiagnosed aneurysm that could bleed if it brakes and cause a lot of complications. in medicine that's called risk-benefit relation
