A member asked:

Can someone who is about 6 months pregnant get tested for thyroid issues?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Tests for anyone: Blood tests for thyroid disorders may be done on any patient, including pregnant women, if there is good reason for the tests to be done. We don't want to "overtest" nor "undertest" patients. Whichever tests are appropriate depending on a patient's symptoms, risk factors, past history, and family history, may be done at a lab. Reference ranges for results may vary depending on the type of patient.
