They are opposite: One is below normal thyroid secretion and the other is above normal. Therefore, the causes and treatments are different. Check w/your doctor.

Opposite conditions: Hypothyroid is low thyroid levels, hyperthyroid is high thyroid levels. They are opposite conditions, so the medications to treat them are completely different.
