A member asked:

Im hoping to birth my 1st baby at age 28. would if be safer to have my 2nd baby in less than the recommended 18 month wait time (then still be in my 20s when birthing baby #2) or to wait that full 18 months & have my second baby in my early 30s?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No magic nbr: There is no magic perfect wait time. Too close together has issues, too far apart has other issues. Fertility begins to decline with age but more after 40 than earlier. Incidence of chromosomal issues begins to climb with age but all pregnancies have a baseline of 4% unexpected outcome. Age may add 1-2%. The best is to decide what works for your life & the daily battles you already face.
