Perioral Dermatitis: The factor most frequently reported in association with the occurrence of perioral dermatitis (POD) is topical corticosteroid use. The treatment of POD involves the discontinuation of topical corticosteroids and the avoidance of skin irritants. Although patients may eventually improve without additional interventions, pharmacologic therapy is often instituted using pimecrolimus.
