Ligament: Fibular collateral ligament or lateral collateral ligament is on the outside of the knee and it is what connects the fibula to the femur and provides for lateral support for the knee. Injury to the ligament will cause pain and swelling. The ligament can be stretched, partially torn or completely torn. when the knee ligament is injured the knee can be bent inward. Sometimes to nearly 90 degrees.
