Variety: The effect of NSAIDs and other pain medication for headaches can vary. NSAIDs that may be effective in treating tension headache include ibuprofen and naproxen. A popular non-NSAID medication that is also effective is Tylenol which also comes in a combination product that includes Tylenol, aspirin, and caffeine (Excedrin). You might have to try different products to find which works best for you.
