I have osteoarthritis in my lower back. i'm on meloxicam right now which has helped the pain a great deal. is there anything else that can help osteoarthritis besides meloxicam? and how long is it safe to take meloxicam before there are side affects?

Back Pain: Ask your doctor about adding behavioral approaches such as biofeedback (available from trained clinical psychologists), the mind-body approach of John Sarno, MD (search web), and perhaps physical therapy. Peace and good health.

Safe and effective: Meloxicam is safe to take long-term with low chance of side effects. It might be worth discussing with your doctor about additional prescription options if you’re continuing to experience pain from your arthritis taking your full health history into account. Some potential non-prescription products that may help pain include heating pads and capsaicin cream.
