You don't have it!: Excellent question! There are different types of HIV tests, with different windows. But mostly it's that educational sources haven't kept up with newer tests. Some doctors and agencies take a conservative view and advise waiting longer than necessary. Still others have a political or religious motivation -- trying to frighten folks. CDC is right about AgAb (4th gen) testing: 6 weeks is conclusive.
