A member asked:

I took two 500mg paracetomol at 7.30am and another two 500mg paracetomol one and a half hours later. is that ok?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No, risk of overdose: Paracetamol (acetaminophen) should be taken 500 mg each 6-8 hours, the maximal dose per day should not exceed 3 gr (3000mg). It should be taken only when necessary (fever or pain), in certain cases 1 gr each 6-8 hours can be taken (not exceeding 4 gr/day), but this is recommended under medical supervision (in a hospital). Paracetamol overdose causes damage to the liver and can be fatal.
