I have a mirena iud which is due to be removed in decemer this year. unfortunately my strings have long since disappeared and i am worried about how it will need to be removed. can you tell me what the steps will be to find out what needs to be done?

IUD ?'s: IUD strings can twist around the stem of the IUD and "retreat" into the uterine cavity. A simple procedure inserting a hook into the cervical canal can usually hook the string and bring it out to visibility, where it can be grasped with forceps and the IUD removed.
