A member asked:

I believe there are only 5 contraceptive iuds approved in the us, paragard, mirena, kyleena, liletta, and skyla. is avibela one of them? if anyone knows anything about this particular contraceptive?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Paragard is a Copper IUD (no hormone), all the others including Avibela are progestin IUD (Levonorgestrel is a progestin hormone that is released by the IUD for the contraceptive effects). The doses of progestin will vary between these brands (and the same the duration for use) Mirena and Liletta 52mg, Skyla and Kyleena 19.5mg. Abivela is not available in US, it is equivalent to Liletta.
