Have been strugling with a cold/congestion/bad sinus pain for about a week now. yesterday my ear started feeling blocked, today it feels swollen shut or as if something is stuck in the ear.

Ear effusion?: Sounds like (no pun intended) that you have either developed a fluid collection behind your ear drum (middle ear effusion) or your eustachian tube on that side has become blocked. Best to see medical provider for evaluation.
