No cure available: In most cases the prevention with medications is possible. Often in the beginning preventative and abortive medications are needed.

Options: If you are sure that your headache type is migraine (you can have a severe headache that is not a migraine) it can be stopped. There are prescription medicines to help. If you haven't seen a doctor or this only happens to you once in a while, Naproxen (in the U.S. This is marketed as aleve) with caffeine (strong cup of coffee…) can help. Drink plenty of water, find a cool dark quiet place, relax.
