Nasal saline: None of the over the counter cough/cold medicines offer more than giving you something to do, They are considered worthless under the age of 6. Any such symptoms are aggravated by dust/fumes/irritants so nasal saline wash to remove them helps. A concentration on fluid balance & comfort foods also helps.
