Ive been on norco 10-325 for ra pain. i had nerve blocking done last month and the rt. side went badly. the pain has intensified greatly. norco isnt helping. ive been offered butrans patch along with norco. im hesitant, any thoughts???

See MD: The initial answer mentions Noco shots. It is not a shot but rather a pill. You can continue to use it if needed. Butrans is a time release medication that will provide longer lasting pain relief than the 3-4 hours you likely get from Norco. I think it would be an excellent option.

Rheumatology: You are becoming tolerant to opiates and the inflammation that is causing the pain in RA goes at times uncontrolled. Your rheumatologist is the best person to decide what would be in this case optimal treatment as you may experience a flare of your RA.
