Gastroenteritis: These symptoms are characteristic of viral gastroenteritis but the incubation period would be longer than a few hours. Therefore I assume your friend didn't transmit the infection, but you picked it up somewhere else unless you were exposed to this friend a day or 2 ago as well. Food poisoning is another possibility,however.
